Rehabilitation with Love and Acceptance
In the city of Korosten, Zhytomyr region, there is a rehabilitation center for women suffering from addiction and who have lost their way in life. Eight women, aged between 24 and 73, currently live here. Each has her own poignant story. Each has faced extremely difficult trials in life, but all of them found the strength to fight the insidious enemy of addiction in order to change their lives for the better. Social services directed these women to the center. To avoid removing children from troubled families, child protection services gave them a second chance. After all, children are best off with their loving and caring parents. No one can provide as much love and warmth to children as their own mother.
Among the center’s residents is a military servicewoman. She was a border guard. The first thing that broke this strong woman was the death of her mother. She hadn’t yet recovered from this greatest loss when the full-scale war began. The enemy proved to be very treacherous. Every day, Russian soldiers take the lives of Ukrainians. Soldiers, civilians, young people, the elderly, and children die at the hands of the enemy. Witnessing the horrors of war, the woman began to drown her pain in alcohol. She was dismissed from service, which only intensified her suffering, leading her to drink even more. This is how addiction overcame a strong woman. However, the rehabilitation center in Korosten is where she found her inner strength and won this battle.
For nearly four years, the women whose lives were nearly shattered by addiction have been supported at the rehabilitation center, a home for mothers and children. Here, they interact with other families who have found themselves in difficult life circumstances. Addicted individuals are best understood by others who have faced similar struggles. Mutual support and assistance are the foundations of their rehabilitation.
In addition to moral support, they need many material things.
Diapers for children, waterproof bed pads, hygiene products, and treats – these are the types of aid provided to the center by the Morning Star Charitable Foundation. The partner, Help.UA Foundation from Switzerland, has supplied essential items to this shelter.
The Morning Star Charitable Foundation helps those in need of all ages, genders, and social levels. We are always where we are needed.
